Gibson a top 5 rookie
In the 2009 draft the Bulls had two picks. They grabbed Wake Forrest’s James Johnson with the 16th pick and then selected USC’s Taj Gibson with the 27 overall pick.
I don’t know what has happened to James Johnson but Gibson is becoming a star in Chicago. Gibson was the steal of the draft. The Bulls took the 5th best player in the draft with their second pick.
He is averaging 9 points and 7 rebounds a game. He has started 50 of the 62 games he has played for the Bulls. Gibson is leading all rookies in rebounds and blocks. He also has more double-doubles than any other player in his draft class.
Atlanta takes advantage of beat up Bulls
The Atlanta Hawks licked their lips with hunger for an easy kill as they took the court against the wounded Chicago. The predators pounced on their prey for a 24 point victory, 116-92.
The Bulls played without Joakim Noah and Luol Deng. The starting roster included both of the Bull’s rookies, Taj Gibson and James Johnson. Gibson has started and played well in 48 out of 60 games this season while this contest was Johnson first start of his 48 games. Johnson had nine points, two blocks and two rebounds in 24 minutes.
Deal #2- Thomas to Bobcats
Tyrus Thomas and the Chicago Bulls got their wish the day of tradeline when Thomas was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats for a first round draft pick, Acie Law and Flip Murray. In the past few weeks, Thomas has reportedly argued with head coach Vinny Del Negro. His main argument was his minutes on the court. Thomas has had decent amount of pt at times and at other times he is hardly played. This has happened throughout three different coaches in his three and a half seasons with the Bulls. (more…)
Del Negro still Employed??
Vinny Del Negro made it past the usual Christmas Eve head coach firing squad the Chicago Bulls are famous for. His two predecessors, Tim Floyd and Scott Skiles, were let go with sorry we want someone new, but hey, Merry Christmas. Del Negro has kept his job and looks to want it for some duration.
Even after he made it past Christmas, rumors were still being typed on the web, printed in papers, heard on the radio and discussed on countless Chicago street corners. Then about a month ago, the Bulls started to play the game they are being paid for.
The 2000-2009 Running of the Chicago Bulls
The decade began with the Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf trying to replace the championship roster he had in the 90’s. We know the story. Michael Jordan retired, then un-retired for a year or two for a season with the Washington Wizzards . Phil Jackson left for the Los Angeles Lakers, where he three-peats to start the decade. Scottie Pippen was traded to the Houston Rockets and Dennis Rodman went completely over the edge.
