Bulls coming at Lebron with the full court press

There is no doubt in my mind,  the Bulls organization wants nothing more than to sign Lebron James.  Actually,  every team in the league wants to, but only a few have salary cap room like Chicago.

In attempts to get the proclaimed “KING”, they are sending the full court press.

I have said repeatedly that Chris Bosh would be a better fit than Bosh.  But,  I do think there is a better  chance of getting Bosh, if Lebron signs with Chicago.  James is a great player and Bosh has said the number one priority for his next team is to win.  Bosh, James and Rose make a perfect winning trio.

Jerry Reinsdorf is pouring tons of time, energy and cashola in Jame’s direction.  Bringing the entire front office to his door step is a great idea.  Let him know how much he would mean to the organization and the fans.  Chicago already has a website for him.  Now, show him he will probably have a city hailing at his feet.  Lebron’s ego likes the attention, so I guess give it to him.

At 11 p.m. players can verbally commit to teams but can’t sign until July 8th.  James probably will not let the world know where he is going for a few days, but once he does, the entire NBA is going to flip out.

Getting Around the One and Done Rule

A few months ago, I wrote a post about the One and Done rule.  At first, the rule was meant to be a year in college.  Players have found a way to get around enrollment, but still play the game they know is their career in attempts to make an NBA roster.

The rule stats, to enter the NBA a player must be 19 years old and a year removed from high school.

Personally, I like the rule, whether it is college, Europe or the National Basketball Development League.  I think players further develop with a year playing against bigger and better athletes who are selected out of the entire high school system to receive scholarships.  This makes the talent in the NBA a year better and more experienced. Plus, the individual athletes have a scale to judge whether they are ready for the big league.

Follow up: Bulls make the trade

The Bulls sent Kirk Hinrich and the 17th pick in the 2010 draft to the Washington Wizards for a future second round pick.

This move makes the Bulls the winner of the draft.  The Washington Wizards and the Philadelphia 76ers got two great players in John Wall and Evan Turner, but they will be rookies who are young and inexperienced in the NBA.

Bulls wheeling and dealing for free agency cap room

The Bulls have been reported of putting up Kirk Hinrich in a trade so they can get extra money for this summer’s free agency

[picappgallerysingle id="7613814"]Chicago’s idea is to trade Hinrich and their 17th pick in tonights draft for a couple of expiring contracts or players who would have a one year minimun salary contract.  This way, they would have extra spending money to go after two of the big name free agents instead of one.   The list of big name guys includes: Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson. Carlos Boozer, Amare Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and David Lee are also available.

Hinrich, a solid back up point guard, has a $9 million contract for next seson.  At this time, the Bulls have $20 million to spend.  If they could unleash Hinrich’s contract they would have around $30 million, which would be enough to sign two of the guys listed above.

This is a good move for the Bulls.  Hinrich has been a good player for the Bulls, but he is an over paid role player.  If the Bulls could get a D-Wade or Chris Bosh on top of getting Lebron,  adios Hinrich.

Phil Jackson might leave the basketball world for good

Phil Jackson, Former Chicago Bull’s Head Coach and current coach of the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, might call it quits on his glorious NBA coaching career

Jackson left the Bulls more than 10 years ago, but I’ll always remember him as the Bulls coach, not the Lakers.  At 64, Jackson has had medical issues.  Lets face it,  it will happen to all of us.  No one is immortal.  The problem is,  with him out of the picture,  who will be the main dominant coach in the NBA?
